English Dub Review: Shadows House “The Final Pair”

Overview:

Emilico and Kate manage to pass by using the river to reach the end. Shirley and Rum aren’t as lucky. As time runs out Shirley begins to dissolve and disappear. Rums memories are able be erased and she might be used as a doll for someone else later. Dolls and shadows eventually merge together, Kate can tell something is wrong with everything.

Our Take:

Well, I don’t know if I trust coffee anymore. We got answers but I am not sure if I like them. I knew things were pretty messed up with this house and structure but dang. Shadows seem to be almost symbiotic, and will eventually take over their doll. But they need to generate a personality first. If they don’t during the debut then they just “die” essentially. That was why Shirley just dissolved and went away. Since it would be a waste to get rid of a good doll they erase Rum’s memories.

They are able to control the dolls through coffee. It has some of Grandfather’s soot in it and through that can control the dolls to an extent. The way they react and how their eyes are animated is creepy, serious kudos to the studio. They say be careful about what you wish for and I get it now. This stuff is disturbing but also super interesting.

Kate seems to have a bit of an inkling of what is going on but Emilico seems affected by the coffee. So has she lost her main ally? Perhaps she will have to trust in a fellow shadow and take John up on his proposal? I really like where this series is going but something tells me it will have a “read the manga” ending. I really hope this show gets a second season if it does.

If you haven’t been watching you definitely need to. This shows worldbuilding and atmosphere are great. It reveals just enough to keep you guessing and intrigued. I look forward to this one every time I see a new episode announced. I hope nothing happens to pure and sweet innocent Emilico cause of coffee…
