OUR TAKE
This week brings us a little breather between arcs, though an oddly placed one, seeing as we only have three more episodes in the season after this. Thankfully, this breather also reminds us of better times as we get to revisit the main setting and many characters from the first season, if ever so briefly. The last arc may not have been exactly awful, but it lacked a lot of the charm and detail that the first season’s arcs had, and coming back to see these characters again and how Diablo and the rest interacted with them really hammered that home. Especially since newcomers like Lumachina, Horn, and Rose felt really out of place when you would hope they would have interesting enough personalities that mixing the new with the old would come to some interesting combinations, but I suppose not in this case. At the risk of making the whole party feel a bit overstuffed, you would think they would maybe consider bringing Klem or at least Edelgard along on the next quest to provide more muscle, but also doesn’t seem the direction they’re headed in. I guess what I’m basically saying is that this episode both reminded me of what I liked about the first season while also reminding me what is lacking from this one.

But with that, only three episodes remain, and they’ll all probably be about resolving things with Lumachina, since their destination is the Royal Capital and it seems their next antagonist is the creepy Head Cardinal we’ve seen somewhat in the Opening for the season. I haven’t watched those episodes in any form at the moment, but after how this season has been so far, I haven’t got a lot of faith in what comes next, even if the main focus is about Cardinals and Priests. Though I guess it wouldn’t do me much good to just go into them expecting the worst, so I’m going to do my best to keep an open mind for these remaining three episodes. I guess it should be clear by now that I’ve kind of exhausted all I can really dive into regarding this specific entry. Hopefully, as we enter the last arc of the season, that won’t be an issue, whether it is more to complain about or finally reaching some nugget of positivity mine for content as we reach the end. See you then!
