English Dub Review: How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom “Let Not Me Be a Loyal Minister”
Overview:
King Souma’s talent search results in five talented individuals being brought to him. The proceedings are being broadcast for all the country to see. There is Aisha Udgard, the dark elf who comes to get help for her homeland. Juna Doma, a beautiful singer who is said to be descended from loreleis. Poncho Panacotta, a remarkable glutton who has tasted almost everything. Tomoe Inui, a member of the mystic wolves who can talk to animals. And finally, Hakuya, who might just be the smartest person in the country. Will these talented individuals be able to help Souma rebuild the kingdom?
Our Take:
Now that all the characters that were hinted to be important have been assembled it’s time to rebuild the kingdom! What I like about the characters that got introduced is that unlike most anime like this, they aren’t all girls fawning over the protagonist. I am not opposed to harems but it’s nice to see that there are at least a couple of guys that will be relevant to the plot.
As far as voice actors for the new characters I will discuss them more when their characters get more screentime. But they got some great additions and I am excited to see what they bring to the show. The main standout from the new cast was Howard Wang as Hakuya. I really liked how he portrayed the character, it was exactly what I had in mind for Hakuya. Howard has been getting a lot of roles lately and I can see why.
I really like where this show is going, Hakuya kind of summed up my feelings. Just like he was trying to judge whether Souma was a king worthy of his services, I am trying to decide if the show is worthy of your time. So far I would definitely say yes, especially if you like isekai stories. So far it is a unique spin to the genre where the main character isn’t overpowered he’s just smart but not arrogantly so.
The episode ends on a cliffhanger with Tomoe telling Souma a secret that makes him gasp. I can’t wait to see what it is because this show has been a lot of fun so far. We have only been getting episodes every other week and for this one, I really hope that changes cause I want to see more as soon as possible!
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
