English Dub Review: How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom “If You Possess an Aptitude We’ll Make Use of It”
Overview:
Souma finds out he has magical power now. It’s called “Living Poltergeist” and lets him put his consciousness into inanimate objects. Perfect for paperwork! Souma takes Liscia out to look at cash crops and explain how that needs to change to fix the food shortage. He also broadcasts over the Jewel Broadcast Network that he wants anyone with talent to come before him. Souma wants people of aptitude to help him fix the kingdom.
Our Take:
I never thought my classes on agriculture and economy would seep into my anime but here we are. The weirdest part about it though is how interesting it is. I love this type of approach to being a hero, even the magic he gets gifted doesn’t make him a badass warrior or anything. It helps him get more things done and at a quicker pace. Perfect for our administration hero, which is what I am going to call him.
Something tells me we would all love a ruler like Souma. He even states he doesn’t want people to just tell him “Yes” about everything. He wants people to challenge him and invest in making the country a better place. To that end, he makes a declaration through the Jewel Broadcast Network (something like a TV but magic) that he wants to recruit people. He doesn’t care about their color, creed, gender, or anything like that. If they are the best at what they do he wants them to stand before him and offers a monetary reward as well. He opens it up for people to nominate others as well so I can’t wait to see who gets brought in when they didn’t want to.
The voice acting has been really good so far. Alejandro Saab and Anairis Quinones are great as Souma and Liscia respectively. Their characters have really good chemistry and I think I can feel the romance brewing. There were a couple of characters that were hinted to be important in upcoming episodes and I can’t wait to see who voices them.
This show has been really unique and interesting to me. I really like the “think” your way out of a problem aspect it follows. I don’t think Souma is going to be swinging a sword or fighting anytime soon. So, if you are more action-oriented this might not be for you. I think this will still be fun and you shouldn’t miss it for anything like that. I am sure there will be some action, we just might see our main character partaking is all. In fact, I think the female characters might be the stronger ones from the looks of it.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
