English Dub Review: Full Dive: This Ultimate Next-Gen Full Dive RPG Is Even Shittier than Real Life! “A New Ally”

Overview:

Reona gives her reasons for wanting Hiro to win the game. And her reasons for suggesting to marry him. The city guard gets two new recruits. Mizarisa and Alicia, not exactly the types you want watching your back. There is a crisis going and now thieves have come out. Hiro does his best to stop them and make the town a little safer before the goblins show up.

Our Take:

Yes, Reona gave her reasons for everything. But no they aren’t very good ones. She asked Kamui out and he said no because her boobs were too big (I was surprised too) so she swears revenge. Once Hiro beats the game she wants to get married and invite Kamui. Reona takes pettiness to a whole new level. I am not sure whether to be annoyed or impressed. If I’m being honest, it’s probably a little bit of both.

This was the first episode where bad things didn’t just unnecessarily happen to Hiro though. Unless you count having to team up with two psychos but really that is like Anime 101 so what did he expect? I guess he did get caught literally with his pants down by a goblin but who knows how bad that will turn out.

This week I have a new thing to complain about instead. Sure, Hiro wasn’t shit on all that much but instead, his one moment so far was stolen. He stood up to Ginji and just before he could fight back Alicia steps in to end it. Sure getting help from your friends is great but wouldn’t it be nice if Hiro had any “heroic” moments at all? Hiro is one of the worst anime protagonists I’ve ever witnessed. The only worse one would be Nobuaki from King’s Game, NOW he was insufferable.

I have a feeling someone is going to just step in and save him from the trouble he finds himself in at the end of the episode too. There are only two episodes left after this and each week my hope dwindles. Please just give Hiro SOMETHING, anything will do. Usually, I am interested in the source material of shows like this but I’m not so sure this time. This series started off decent enough but it hasn’t really gotten any better. It doesn’t even take advantage of the typical isekai stuff you see in series like this. Hiro doesn’t level up or gain any skills, just gets beat down all the time. It’s been a disappointment for many fans of the genre I’m sure.
