English Dub Review: Back Arrow “Do the Heavens Cry When the Princess Rises?”

Overview

The battle between the Rekka and Lutoh Briheights continues. Kai renews his attack on Arrow who is helped by Prax Conrad, while the Rekka generals Goh Zenga and Bai Toatsu attack Elsha who are helped by Hans Paladin and Fritz Kraus of the Prax Armoured Division. The battle is broadcast live back at Lutoh by Supreme Rudolf, showing the Rekka warriors defeating those from Lutoh causing concern among the people…


Our Take

Aside from a newly animated opening, they didn’t waste any time at all jumping straight into the drama and action this episode. The titular Back Arrow really tried to make a point and have his words not go to waste. It’s about keeping a promise to himself. Prax and Arrow using the Wall defense mechanism to their advantage, Kai and Ren undoing their Gattai to dodge a fatal blow, and Kai taking off his Bind Warper to escape Arrow’s hold on him.

I also liked Kai’s argument with Back and how much of a hypocrite Kai is. At its core, it’s very much the argument most people have about rich assholes with money to burn spending billions to explore space when there are many people in poverty? Well, because humans becoming a multi-planetary species can ensure the survival of the human race which is better for the long term. But then again, Pooling the resources of multiple planets can also curb poverty if there’s more to go around.

Overall this episode excelled in terms of action and surprisingly, deep thinking. And it’s especially interesting that now the emperor Zetsu Daidan is here against princess Fine with her 2nd personality which was also another big highlight with her ballsy decision to go into the battlefield as it really knew how to hype up the proceedings for the next episode.
