Syfy’s TZGZ Not Moving Forward With Animated Series From Moral Orel/Marvel’s Loki Producers

A little over a year ago, Syfy’s TZGZ looked like it wanted to be a serious player in the adult animation space. That seems to have subsided in favor of increasing interest from sister streamer Peacock who has already announced a pickup with Colony 2 and a prequel TV series inspired by the feature-length Ted. A number of series premiered across the TZGZ lineup including Wild Life, Devil May Care, and a slew of others, but it didn’t take long before the network would mess around with the scheduling of the block which ultimately led to the slow disintegration of a once-promising lineup. Not only that, but Syfy had several animated series in development that didn’t see the light of the day.

The latest to rise to the surface was an animated series called The Black Hole.  In a galaxy far, far away there’s an epic war of the worlds where countless alien species will fight to the death – and THE BLACK HOLE is about the crappy dive bar where they drink. Picked up for a 15-minute pilot, THE BLACK HOLE from Starburns Industries (“Rick and Morty,” “Moral Orel”) is written and executive produced by Dino Stamatopoulos (Creator, “Moral Orel”) and Michael Waldron (Producer, “Rick and Morty”). Paul Young (EP, “Key & Peele”), James A Fino (EP, “Rick and Morty”), Duke Johnson (Director, “Anomalisa”) and Nick Weidenfeld (President of Programming, Viceland) also executive produce.

Unfortunately, Dino has announced that Syfy’s TZGZ has opted not to move forward with The Black Hole. The stop-motion animated series featured the voices of Scott Adsit, Dana Snyder, Abigail Spencer, Danny Trejo, Brandon Johnson, and Ember Knight. Fortunately, Dino was nice enough to post the pilot episode that you can watch below and I can’t help but think that we missed out on some magic over here. Check it out.
