English Dub Review: My Hero Academia “One Thing at a Time”
Overview:
Hawks is still in the thick of being a double agent. Luckily, it seems Endeavor has figured out his secret message. He and Endeavor both realize that the work-study is a way to bolster the hero ranks. Endeavor decides to oversee not only Shoto’s training but Deku and Bakugo’s as well.
Our Take:
Endeavor wants to be better, but that doesn’t mean forgiveness is so easily doled out. There was a moment where Endeavor would have flown of the handle in the past but he calmly accepted the situation. I hope people pay attention to Endeavor cause it is one of the better-written redemption arcs out there. Love him or hate him, the guy is a consummate professional, which he demonstrates over and over again. Directing a villain away from busy traffic to protect people for example. I am pretty sure we all have felt inferior to someone at some point in our lives and can relate to that aspect of Endeavor. We don’t condone his behavior but we can understand it.
He also gives great advice and that is where the episode title comes in. Deku is so focused on mastering everything about One for All that it makes it difficult. Endeavor tells him to just focus on one thing at a time. No one is born learning how to drive, but we practice it so much that it all becomes reflexive. Another impressive thing is he managed to keep up with Deku’s muttering. Not even All Might can boast to have that ability, but he absorbed it all and used it to formulate a training plan for Deku.
I think this arc is going to be a lot of fun for a lot of people. Bakugo and Todoroki always rank high in the popularity polls, so getting an arc that focuses on them (and Deku) will sure to be appreciated. I never get sick of Bakugo’s fiery temper, he’s one of my favorite rival characters. Most times I would be sick of their stuff but not him. In the beginning, he was super annoying but just like everyone else in this show he has grown a lot.
Not to keep on the Endeavor hype train but Patrick Seitz has been killing it these last few episodes. Especially in this episode, seeing him keep calm and give some great advice was awesome. I hope Patrick continues to shine in this arc. We got our one-week skip last week so I think it should be smooth sailing from here on out. Funimation has been doing a great job so hopefully, I’ll see you all next week!
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
