English Dub Review: I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level: “Along Came a Leviathan”
Overview: Azusa (Skyler Davenport) is being bestowed the great award, the Demon Medal of Honor, from the demon king and is whisked away along with her family to Beezlebub’s (Erica Mendez) home, the Demon Realm, to accept her gracious honor. But with Halkara (Xanthe Huynh) as bumbling as she is, they may prove to be more trouble than they initially thought.
Our Take: “Along Came a Leviathan” brings along a really weird subplot to start off the episode. It entails making Rosalie a dress which proves to be troublesome considering she’s a ghost. Now that may not sound that odd in nature considering the kind of lighthearted fare that I’ve Been Killing Slimes offers but what had me scratching my head was the fact that this same issue was taken care of within minutes, if that, just before the dragon wedding two episodes ago. What was different about this dress as opposed to the last one? Why wouldn’t the same spell used previously work now? Why am I asking so many questions about such a simple show? I don’t know either, but what I do know is that I’m very much confused on what the difference between now and then was and why we needed as much time as we did to focus on something that was already solved so effortlessly before.
What I am not confused about is how fun it was to learn about the demonic side of the world though. You know, like the gigantic demonic whale, Falta with a fancy hotel on her back that transports Aizawa and the gang to the demon realm. But there are plenty of other interesting tidbits as well like, the different types of people living in the demon capital city, Vanzeld, with some more humanoid and some more animalistic, or how demons are not the savages they’re made out to be or even the design of the demon king, Provat Pecora Allieres, and her maze-like castle made to take out enemies more easily. And my oh my what a design she has. King Provat being an adorable little loli girl is the kind of cutesy stuff I’ve come to expect from the series but in a good way. It’s breezy but also ironic as it’s definitely outside of the norm. Of course, as one would expect Halkara has dug her own grave with her astronomically clumsy nature that often gets her into the daily predicaments she is subjected to. At this point, it’ll be fun to see how she will stumble her way through her death sentence and all the wackiness that will undoubtedly come with that.
I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level sixth episode is a look into Beelzebub’s realm with new and intriguing lore and the same ol’ shenanigans you know and love (or like enough for what it is).
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
