English Dub Review: Combatants Will Be Dispatched! “Corrupt, Black-Hearted Knight”

Overview:

The princess refuses to say the magical incantation for the water device in front of the citizens. So to get water they have been importing water stones from the neighboring Toris kingdom. In order to get more aid, the princess sends Six’s team as ambassadors. This couldn’t possibly go bad right? Right?…

Our Take:

In case you have forgotten the magical incantation for the water device was changed. Six changed it to “dick festival” and the princess refuses to say that in front of everyone. I mean I understand not wanting to say that to a bunch of people but it seems the quicker way than what she chooses. Six isn’t the smartest out there but every time he would say “OR you could just say the incantation” I was thinking the same thing.

As far as ambassador visits go, Six’s group handles it about how you think they would. Grimm tries to cast an impotence curse on Six but it finds itself hitting the prince instead. Snow tries to seduce the prince to be her sugar daddy. The highlight though has to be Six putting his junk on the prince’s head and calling it a party gag. Six was just upset that the prince was getting the typical harem protagonist treatment.

As I have mentioned I watched the sub and I knew that some of the gags were coming. Still, I ended up laughing way too hard. They changed just enough to make it hilarious all over again. Hearing Six refer to a typical RPG quest as “getting deez nuts” was a pleasure I didn’t expect to hear. This show is not cultured but it is definitely “cultured” if you know what I mean.

There was a demon named Gadalkand that Six decapitated in a previous episode. After meeting Russel, another elite four demon, they are surprised that Six defeated him. Six replies by saying “What’s a Gadalkand?” I just really love the exchanges in this show. Speaking of demons, Heine is also in Toris and is working on a non-aggression pact with the prince.

Heine and Snow both try to seduce the prince and I must say the VA’s were great here. Kristen McGuire and Amber Lee Connors (Heine and Snow respectively) really let loose with their characters this time. I keep getting impressed with the voice acting in this show.

Six’s group gets sent on another quest and I can’t wait to see what hijinks they get into. Combatants Will Be Dispatched! is not high brow by any means. But sometimes we just need to forget our troubles and laugh. This definitely fits the bill and I can’t wait for the next episode. I stopped watching the sub when I got this assignment so the ending is something I am definitely looking forward to.
