Adult Swim News: Aqua Teen Movie ; Smiling Friends Updates

Famed Aussie animator PsychicPebbles was on the The Create Unknown podcast offering up a couple of details regarding the upcoming new series Smiling Friends.

In Smiling Friends, Smiling Friends Inc. is there to lend a helping hand to any city inhabitant who calls their hotline with their troubling situation. No matter how absurd, the folks at Smiling Friends will send representatives cynical Charlie and star employee Pim to save the day. Smiling Friends is a quarter-hour animated series created, written and produced by Cusack and Hadel and will premiere on Adult Swim later this year.

The pilot for Smiling Friends originally aired during Adult Swim’s 2019 April Fool’s Day stunt to massive fan reaction. On Adult Swim digital platforms, the pilot has generated 1.3M views and is the #1 most watched episode on AdultSwim.com since its release. Cusack’s first show with Adult Swim, YOLO: Crystal Fantasy regularly won the half-hour across ad-supported cable among all adult demos. Additionally, it beat the key late-night competition by mostly double and triple digits among young adult demos.

Adult Swim teased the series was coming later this year, with Psychicpebbles that eight episodes (including the pilot) are in production and that the producers are checking every piece of the animation to make sure it’s up to the standards of a series that could be on Adult Swim back in the early 2000’s.

There are a lot of voice actors over at Cameo, like, even people that are voice actors that haven’t had a job in years. That isn’t the case with the always busy Dana Snyder who frequents the platform, but there are HUNDREDS of people claiming to be voice actors offering up their services for a small fee. The other good thing about Cameo, you can, perhaps with the right amount of cash, can ascertain information. In this case, Dana recently made a bit of an announcement on Reddit where he notes that the Aqua Teen movie that was announced earlier this year has finished voice records and is slated to drop sometime next year. If you recall, the new Aqua Teen film will be made available on home release before it does so on HBO MAX.

Synopsis:
A trio of fast-food items works to solve mysteries in an edgy adult cartoon. The brains of the group is Frylock, a floating box of fries, but Master Shake does a lot of the talking, most of it aimed at making life miserable for Meatwad, a sweet-natured ball of meat. Recurring characters include neighbor Carl, supercilious Mooninites (lunar creatures) Ignigknot and Err, and mad scientists Dr. Weird and Steve.
