English Dub Review: Suppose a Kid from the Last Dungeon Boonies Moved to a Starter Town? “Suppose the Villain Starts Appearing On and Off like the Middle Part of a Movie?”

Overview:

Alka’s power needs to be sealed to not awaken any demon lords. Vitra for some reason gets turned into a pork roast by Eug. It is later revealed this is to seal Vitra as well. Eug is wanting to release the demon lords in order to destroy the world and reset it. Eug traps Alka and sends Lloyd to find her which delays him from returning to the capital.

Our Take:

The major plot is finally being developed but I don’t feel it really has enough time left to breathe. When shows that primarily deal in comedy try to get serious it can have disastrous results. This show just barely succeeds cause it still leans pretty hard into the comedy. I fully understand some bigger things need to happen but it at least gets interesting.

One of the main issues I have with how they pull this off is Eug was just introduced. Hard to invest in her as one of the main villains with so little time getting to know her. Also hard to believe she has fooled Alka all this time, I know she is portrayed as kind of dumb but she’s still the leader of a town of basically superheroes.

This episode was mostly set up for the final episode and there isn’t too much Lloyd. That is what I like to call the “Saitama Problem” because when you have a super-powerful character you can’t have them around to ruin plans. They will ruin the bad guys plan so quick that you need to remove them and I guess searching for the village chief is as good a reason as any.

This is a short one, I got more to say about the final episode and of course the season review. This was a decent episode. Certainly not the worst thing I have ever watched but it felt like the Kunlun Arc was just missing some pieces. I think maybe some stuff in the novels was cut here to make it fit the twelve-episode length they were aiming for.
