English Dub Review: Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki “When you go back to the starter town with the full party, new stuff tends to happen”

Overview

At the start of summer break, Fumiya meets up with Hinami at the mall. Hinami criticizes Fumiya’s sloppy appearance, while also assigning him to go on a date with Fūka. In preparation for the date, Hinami has Fumiya dating her as a dress rehearsal for it, all while helping him buy clothes and other things to improve his appearance…

Our Take

After a couple of very solid episodes focusing on Mimimi, we are back on the “Game of Life” 101 with Aoi. Compared to the start of this series, Fumiya Tomozaki has shown some great progress but he still has ways to go. He’s being too conscious around Kikuchi and misreading the mood but hey, nobody’s a master overnight right?

I also found it clever how the series is little by little introducing the idea that gaming, even If you strive to be the best, should be a thing where you also have fun. As a gamer, who slowly developed a sort of a social life myself, finding the perfect balance is key for achieving the joys in life.

Overall, this episode was actually pretty nice, with one of the highlights being when Fumiya’s new circle of friends all came over to his house to visit. As for the date between Fumiya and Fuka. Learning to give the shy Fuka space to converse her thoughts for standard conversation skills is good, but learning to be truthful to yourself is another act of skill. From a movie date to the train ride home, another date is good, but the normie group hang-out comes first. As for the ending, I’m curious to see where it leads towards as we now have 3 episodes left.
