Review: The Bleepin’ Robot Chicken Archie Comics Special

Robot Chicken has tackled a lot of premium properties over the years. While DC Comics and Star Wars got their own specials, the legendary Adult Swim franchise has lampooned every facet of pop culture over the course of 10+ seasons. Archie Comics hasn’t been ignored, so it makes sense that Stoopid Buddy Stoodios could surmise enough content for a special, however, one could question how we can squeeze 23-minutes out of a publisher that doesn’t quite have the same level of notoriety as say Marvel or DC Comics. The answer…

S-E-X! That’s right, sex. The Bleepin’ Robot Chicken Archie Comics Special features lots of phallic humor and we are all better for it. Quite frankly, it’s almost the last bastion of freedom in which producers can go to so as to write jokes, the land that The Howard Stern Show had cultivated and developed, a radio show that Robot Chicken creator Seth Green has had quite a history in visiting. The execution works swell and is a smart way to relate comic brands like Josie And The Pussycats, Archie, and Riverdale to a younger crowd who may only remember The CW’s adaptation.

The Bleepin’ Robot Chicken Archie Comics Special features a romp of hilarious bits like Josie And The Pussycats flying around in sex toy spaceships, to an infestation of sorts in and around Riverdale, and a cameo appearance featuring the one and only Bitch Pudding. I would have like to have seen some Sabrina or ANYTHING referencing Archie vs Predator, but these are small gripes in what has been an excellent weekend for Stoopid Buddy Stoodios between this and the recent Hulu release of M.O.D.O.K.
