English Dub Review: So I’m a Spider, So What? “Yay, The Outside, I’m Free?”

Overview

It’s finally time to visit the outside world! But hostile humans and old rivals make it hard for Spider-Lady to begin her journey. Meanwhile, things around Shun grow frenzied in preparations for further conflict with the demons, as a threat to his friends begins to close in…

Our Take

So far, they made a decent start to this brand new storyline. The CG moments are now a bit good compared to previous episodes. The dialogue had me laughing as she walked around the surface finally trying to just getaway. Not knowing where to go or what to do now that there’s so much open space. Spider-Lady’s finally out to the outside world, but danger and hunger prevail in every direction, much less the Mother Spider’s commands.

Since she has defeated the Earth Dragon Araba, nothing’s impossible for her, at least until Spider-Lady’s murderous brethren comes straight after her in retaliation to finish her off. She might as well finish Mother-Spider off first before going any further. As for the human side with the kingdom attempting to comprehend the repercussions of Julius’s sudden death try to handle this possible war against -demonkind, Shun has to face the music against both demonkind and the Church (particularly its followers)…and also a possible traitor amongst them.

Overall an excellent episode that’s managed to balance out the action with world expansion and intrigue. The survival arc has ended and the story has begun! If I have any major complaints, I think it would have to be the meeting with the elf king. It was 8 mins of padding where literally nothing happened and served no actual purpose within the narrative. Hopefully, later episodes will further add more to this in compelling ways…
