English Dub Review: Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle “The Princess and Troubling Dreams”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
Princess Syalis is always up for more sleep, so when her friend offers a sleepover with the promise of the best sleep ever, she’s excited to try it out. However, the Demon King winds up getting in the way of the proposed slumber party and Syalis calls it off — much to the chagrin of Harpy.
Our Take:
Sleepy Princess and the Demon Castle returns to the actual demon castle this week — no more gallivanting around the human world. Instead it’s a return to form as Princess Syalis tries to catch up on her sleep and creates plenty of chaos all around her while she’s doing it.
The first segment is pretty fun. Harpy invites Syalis to a sleepover. I was excited to maybe see Syalis opening up a little more, since it always seems like we don’t get much of her actual thoughts besides wanting to sleep. But alas, maybe that’s all there is inside her mind, because after some (admittedly pretty silly) antics involving the Demon King and practicing for her first slumber party, she decides not to indulge Harpy after all.
The best part of the episode is probably the middle story, as Sakkyun the demon princess is shown off. All her thunder is getting stolen by Syalis, and she’s sick and tired of it! She ends up becoming somewhat of an apprentice to Syalis, who puts her through all kinds of trials and tribulations before the scene is through. Sakkyun may be a demon princess, but I think Syalis is the true demon princess despite being not actually a demon.
Finally, the Demon King and his team investigate the Princess’s dreams when she sees the Hero at night. They wind up putting the pieces together on how he’s able to enter her dreamland, but they have nothing to fear — Syalis is in no mood to entertain him.
The eleventh episode of Sleepy Princess doesn’t really offer anything new. At this point a more typical show might be setting up a major twist or putting the pieces in place for the final battle. Not Syalis! She’s just content to get some sleep. There’s not much left for the show this season, and I’m betting the final episode won’t be much different than any other episode that came before it. Whether that’s good or bad will be up to you.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
