English Dub Review: Mars Red “The Last Blue Sky”
Overview(Possible Spoilers):
Well, the plot has certainly thickened… Aoi sees multiple people (vampires?) burn up right in front of her. Her boss is all aboard the vampire bandwagon now and wants to find the story. We find out Misaki was General Nakajima’s daughter and she was supposed to marry Maeda. Nakajima has been making vampires using askra. He asks Maeda to drink it and join the immortal. An earthquake interrupts and Yamagami loses his life helping Maeda.
Our Take:
One thing I really like about this show is how the title of every episode so far has had meaning to what happens. This week’s title “The Last Blue Sky” is referencing Yamagami seeing a blue sky one last time. It was a very impactful moment and should have implications for Maeda’s character moving forward.
Kurusu, Takeuchi, and Suwa didn’t have too much to do this time. Though it was Takeuchi and Suwa who found the new vampire units holding place. Apparently, Nakajima got the idea to use these soldiers from Britain, which is interesting because it shows vampires are known in other countries and being weaponized there as well. I hope we get more Kurusu next week especially now that the group is down a member.
Aoi is a really fun character and I think she will be more important to the endgame somehow. She’s a reporter so if I had to guess it would be by revealing that governments are using vampires as weapons but who knows. Maybe, I am just projecting and hope she will be more important than she actually will be. I just don’t think we would focus this much on a character who mentions Kurusu almost every episode for it to have no impact.
Yamagami… what a hero. He just endeared himself to us a few episodes back and went out like an absolute boss. In order to remove some rubble from Maeda, he had to expose himself to sunlight. Which as you know for vampires is usually a death sentence. I hope we get another scene of his wife but that would probably be superfluous especially now. You will be remembered and honored Tokuichi Yamagami.
I haven’t seen a bad episode of Mars Red yet. Some have been better sure but all of them have had something impactful and meaningful happen to the characters. There haven’t been any waste episodes or plot filler. I am excited to see where the story goes from here especially now that a member of the team has been lost. I hope Yamagami’s sacrifice makes Maeda rethink becoming a vampire.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
