English Dub Review: Suppose a Kid from the Last Dungeon Boonies Moved to a Starter Town? “Suppose it’s Looking Like You Need to Clean Up the Mess, and You Kind of Saw it Coming?”
Overview:
Lloyd takes a job at a resort hotel during vacation. He wants to go alone but as things usually go, everyone finds their way to the same resort eventually. As always there is trouble afoot, let the next arc begin!
Our Take:
We got some new characters and that means new voice actors as well. Amber Lee Connors voices Kikyou, Ian Sinclair voices Minoki, and Coba is voiced by Xander Mobus. Amber Lee Connors has been all over the place lately, same with Ian Sinclair. Amber’s reactions to all of Lloyd’s awesomeness was amazing, I laughed every time. Admittedly Ian doesn’t get much screentime but you can tell it’s him.
This might be the funniest show of the Winter season, I watched the whole thing through with subs and thought it wouldn’t be as funny a second time. I am really glad I was wrong on that front. We don’t get anything Earth-shattering or big expansive plots. Just good old-fashioned fun and laughs, with some power fantasy thrown in.
All of the girls in this show are great but man… Selen just makes me smile every episode. Lloyd wasn’t able to accept her invitation and said he was flattered she responded by saying “You said flattered, which means raincheck, which means marriage!” bit of a leap but I love it. With so many girls it is easy to overlook Alan as a character, and while he isn’t the most in-depth he is still funny and shows growth. Billy Kametz delivering the line “I’m a snack and you know it!” was very unexpected and much loved.
There is a treant parasite somewhere near the hotel resort and can apparently make someone super strong. So, Lloyd being as amazing as he makes Kikyou suspicious of him. She believes he is the carrier of the parasite and honestly, I can’t really blame her. Seeing her schemes constantly get foiled made me feel bad for her. Her being a secret spy for Alan’s dad was… a nice twist.
Everyone has a unique reason for being at the hotel, the most interesting reason was Selen though. Her father had a marriage interview set up for her. If you pay attention you can probably guess who it’s with but it was fun to see her tap into new levels of yandereness (is that a word?).
Not much else can be said about this one. It was fun and left me wanting more that’s for sure. Luckily Funimation blessed us with two episodes this week to make up for none last week. That review is coming up next so stay tuned!
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
