English Dub Review: Log Horizon: Destruction of the Round Table “Labyrinth in Akiba”
Overview:
Akiba has turned into a full-blown dungeon raid. Everyone’s level has been reduced making a lot of people’s weapons useless. Shiroe has to bet on the younger guild members to beat this raid boss and put things back to normal.
Our Take:
We get a double dish of Log Horizon this week. Looks like we are in for a tough fight with this raid boss. Everyone is feeling incredibly weak and their attacks don’t do much. Turns out their levels have all been lowered so their level isn’t high enough to use their equipment effectively.
We get a lot more action between these two episodes and I usually didn’t care for the action in this series. These episodes were really good though, the animation flowed well and a lot of characters got moments to shine. The fate of this raid battle will likely rest on the shoulders of Minori and the younger guild members.
Honestly, I should have predicted that with all the foreshadowing last episode. All the raid tips that Shiroe gave Minori should have clued me into it but I am a sucker for “training” arcs so I was pleasantly surprised. It seems like the raid boss is using the teaching system to lower everyone’s levels. It’s a system that lowers a player’s level to the characters they are accompanying and lucky for Akatsuki she was using this feature when the raid happened so her level isn’t as low as everyone else.
Shiroe and some of the other high-ranking players aren’t pushovers though. They meet up with another group and help each other to take down the enemies. It is here that Shiroe gets helpful information that another guild member has collected on all the enemies and puts it with his own intel. He entrusts the info to Litka and Lelia and sends them to find Minori.
This episode was really good but honestly, it’s mostly a lot of needed setup for what comes next. I can’t wait to tell you all about the next episode so that is coming up next! Looks like this season is going to go out with a bang. Really glad Funimation blessed us with two episodes this week.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
