English Dub Review: Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki “When a girl’s your first friend, life feels like a date for a while”
Overview
After meeting up, Aoi takes Fumiya to the mall in order to teach him how to change his appearance. The two shops at an apparel store and Fumiya’s communication is still awkward when he asks the salesman for the mannequin rather than trying out the clothes on it. The two then have lunch and run into Fūka, who works as a part-time waitress. On the following Monday, Hinami tasks Fumiya with taking to Izumi at least twice a day for the week, as well as to go on a date with another girl. During the week, Fumiya has brief and awkward conversations with Izumi, struggling to come up with things to talk about…
Our Take
Fumiya Tomozaki, with Aoi’s help, is starting to learn to speak to some other girls and is making a real effort to better himself and connect with other people. He even now gets real close to one of them to the point of walking home together. Aoi laid it on him brutally at first, but now that Fumiya’s slowly getting out of his shell it’s got a lot more fun.
Now that I think about it, so far the source material and by extension, the anime it’s primarily based on feels like a hidden guide on how to make friends for those who aren’t really good at social interaction and this episode actually showed a good representation of how real-life basic conversations actually go. From conversations to posture, the goal is slowly increasing its difficulty for Fumiya to reach (and earning real-life experience points along the way).
With more game-themed conversations to introduce new and expand current topics, Aoi is really going the extra mile to help Fumiya regain his footing through resources to push him further. The true test for the Fumiya however is between him and Minami a.k.a Mimimi, and bringing in his “TakFam” videogame and whether or not it’ll make a good impression. Pretty excited to see where all of that’ll turn out…
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
