Comic Review: RWBY/Justice League #6

Overview

Weiss and Diana/Wonder Woman infiltrate the Schnee Dust Company and discover a half-man/half-automaton. Can they earn the Cyborg’s trust, or will they be assimilated into the circuitry?!

Our Take

Written once again by Marguerite Bennett and Penciled by Emanuela Lupacchino. We now delve deep into other RWBY renditions of beloved DC characters. This time with Cyborg who since New #52 has now become a standard Justice League member that in the past was popularized with his previous association with the Teen Titans. While Diana/Wonder Woman acknowledges how she was artificially made in an effort to be friendly with him, Cyborg clarifies he’s something completely different than her. Design-wise his robotic parts and his clothes have an almost “Frankenstein” aesthetic to them.

Of course, while the origin story of Cyborg is very different within the RWBY universe, it kinda establishes some canyon-sized plot-holes even if they come across as unintentional with the first being the concept of Space Travel which was established in past RWBY Lore that up until Volume 7 was something Atlas Scientists were yet to achieve but here we learn there were multiple attempts where they learn the hard way that their most valuable resource known as “Dust” doesn’t work in space.

Overall, this was a decent story but not a perfect one. I do see what they were going for despite some of the plot holes regarding the concept of space travel in RWBY. The cliffhanger itself has a decent sense of foreboding of what to expect. I can’t wait for the next volume to see what other RWBY/DC rendition they’ll do next!
