English Dub Review: Log Horizon: Destruction of the Round Table “Akiba General Election”
Overview:
As hinted at the end of last week’s episode there is to be an election, between the New Round Table Conference or the Akiba Government headed by Eins. Shiroe selects Rayneshia to be the New Round Table Conference’s representative, so she finally visits her mother to try to get some backing. It takes some help from the Sifu mansion maids and Rayneshia to finally stand up for herself to get the assistance she needs. Election results next week??
Our Take:
After the build-up of last week, this one slowed the plot down just a bit. The good news is I think we will get the election results in next week’s episode and I imagine things won’t go so smoothly regardless of the outcome. Rayneshia finally steps up in her role as a princess and becomes the face of the New Round Table Conference after Shiroe got her to accept. Having accepted this Rayneshia finally has the face-to-face with her mother that she has been needing to have. Rayneshia got some support from her maids for the financial side of things and finally stood up for her own future. She also said she is gonna find Krusty and bring him back, finally! This season feels like it should just be called Rayneshia Tales as focused on her as it has been.
After the awesome build-up and direction, last week’s episode went in this week’s was a bit disappointing. I do understand though that we couldn’t just go straight to the election but still disappointing. It was pretty hilarious to get Tetra’s first appearance of the season (at least I think it was). For those that are starting with season three, Tetra is a cute girl idol character who is actually a boy and constantly teases Naotsugu. In this episode, they were trying to be a third-party candidate but everyone overruled that pretty quick in a funny turn of events.
One thing I want to backtrack to is Rayneshia saying she is going to get Krusty back. I mean I know you are all probably sick of me mentioning it every week but we need him back! Things just haven’t been the same without his sour, sardonic personality. Go get him Rayneshia! I really do like how this show gives plotlines and motivations room to breathe. I will say if you are really into the typical action isekai it’s getting harder and harder to recommend this but that is what I find so refreshing about Log Horizon.
For being the “main” character and the person who formed the titular Log Horizon, we sure haven’t gotten much Shiroe time. Though I think that’s all about to change with the upcoming election and as they say quality over quantity. Akatsuki further cemented her best girl status by going around the city putting people to sleep and giving them the “suggestion” to vote for Ranyeshia. I loved this cause we honestly haven’t gotten enough Akutski this season.
Well if you were expecting things to blow up like a powder keg after the election declaration like I was then you might be a bit disappointed. This episode will be a little lower than last week’s but I do think we are about to be rewarded for our patience. Log Horizon has always been about the slow burn, so I imagine we are about to get rewarded.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
