Dazai and Chuuya attend school together and get into fights while discussing the perks of dog ownership.

OUR TAKE

Okay, Dazai and Chuuya are a couple characters who I might actually know a bit about, since the first few episodes of the third season were essentially about their initial meeting. The two are rivals much like the main rival pair that got focus last week, only these two seem to have been partners for a time, likely because they are the only two who knew how to properly help the other one get stronger. The phrase “only a diamond can polish a diamond” was used both in those episodes and here, suggesting that the two having equal levels in strength allow them to subconsciously help the other grow in power. Or maybe consciously too, they might be fully capable of helping the other one do that, although I think they’re on different factions now? If you’re someone who more extensively follows this show, feel free to give me insight as to how these characters interact in the comments below! Frankly, you’d probably do a better job at reviewing this comedy season that I could. But again, I guess this series is only really meant for people who know the show super well, and I am definitely not one of those people.

Perhaps this is a sign that we’ll be getting more episodes about characters who featured prominently in Season 3 so that I can further explain things about these characters that I actually know. I get that going into character analysis isn’t exactly the point of these shorts and I should be explaining the jokes, but that doesn’t sound particularly interesting to me or whoever might be reading this. The point of comedy is that you shouldn’t need the joke explained to you, but then again that kind of flies in the face of doing a review of it. Comedy can certainly be reviewed, but I feel like there’s character worth exploring in it that I just don’t see in this. Then again, at least it’s not like RWBY Chibi, which was only a scant few minutes long per episode, and I can’t imagine talking about that for hundreds of words at a time. Either way, I think the point of what I’m trying to say here is that comedy alone is hard to write about. And we’re not even half way with this season/series yet, so you better buckle up, because we have quite a bit longer to stretch this out.
