Our Take

Finally another good episode, but now we’re getting to the backstories but all of this on the eighth episode? This would’ve been nice if this was stuff we learned in earlier episodes, but I’m glad we’re finally establishing more of this show’s lore/history and connecting various plot points in ways that make sense.

The flashback to Frankenstein was a pleasant surprise, but I think it fits well in this arc as he was kinda mysterious in the first few episodes (and the “Awakening” prequel), but I never would have guessed what his past actually was before he became what he is now.

Overall, while the beginning was slow, the 2nd half definitely made up for it with compelling lore and big reveals. I’m both curious and compelled to see how the master-servant duo interacts for the first time, Frankenstein’s backstory and the fight between two clan leaders were pretty badass and well laid out. The first meeting between Raizel and Frankenstein was surprisingly funny as well and leaves me to wonder how the rest of the episodes are going to turn out now but in a good way.
