English Dub Review: Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? “(Invisible) Breakthrough”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
The plan to get the Xenos into the Knossos is well underway as Bell acts as the distraction. However, Finn agrees to send Ais despite his reluctance to the conflict of interest she has with Bell. When Bell tries to shake her off his tail a few ladies lend him some assistance. Ryuu challenges Ais as Bell continues his role as the distraction. The Xenos move as the Hestia familia confuses the Loki familia with disguises and magic tools. Finn quickly realizes that the Xenos must helpers or magic items. Hestia and Haruhime guide the group, but one of the Loki familia interrupts the Xenos, and Wiene separates from the group. Haruhime leaves to get Wiene as Hestia tells Bell who runs to get to Wiene.
Our Take:
This episode is a set up to the inevitable confrontation between Bell and Ais as she follows him. Meanwhile, the other members of the Hestia familia work to guide the Xenos to the Knossos.
There was a bit of lighthearted fun at the beginning with Bell and the women that he meets. Ais watches him like a hawk as per her suggestion to Finn. From Naaza to Ryuu and Aisha to Eina their interactions with Bell causes Ais to question if Bell’s a player. However, with the plan still unfolding Bell makes a run for it while attracting other adventurers. After he uses a magic tool to disorient the other adventurers he makes his escape, but Ais is still on him until Ryuu requests a duel. The scene was creative and amusing to see it cause problems and solutions for Bell.
Meanwhile, Haruhime and Hestia guide the Xenos to the Knossos with a map and the book that Hermes gave them. Lili disguises herself as one of the Xenos and even Finn to distract and confuse the Loki familia. It works well and admittedly I forgot she had that ability. Welf and Mikoto guarding the Xenos and using the magic swords were good. Welf’s idea to use the magic swords to stop the other adventurers without causing property damage works in consideration for the people of the town. Then there’s the Xenos like Lito calling out to his fellow comrades and leading the group to the door. However, Asterius still hasn’t healed from his fight with Ais and he’s laying low. His scene does make me think that he’ll make his appearance to the surface soon ready to fight if needed.
Then when Wiene accidentally separates from the group and she runs into one of the Loki familia, and things get even messier. Haruhime leaves before Hestia could stop her and later with Hestia telling Bell about Wiene’s separation from the group. They both risk exposure and since they have limited magical items, it’s only a matter of time before the Loki familia catches them. The plan falling apart worked well for the inventible collision course between the Loki and Hestia familia over the Xenos. Hopefully, next week’s episode will be the confrontation as the series can only stall for so long.
Overall this episode was a sufficient episode to progress the plan to gets the Xenos into the Knossos. It leaves us on a cliffhanger on Wiene’s fate now that one of the Loki familia spotted her.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
