Today In Obituaries: Spitting Image Co-Creator Martin Lambie-Nairn Dies At Age 75
In 1981, Martin Lambie-Nairn had a lunch with two Cambridge School of Arts grads Peter Fluck and Roger Law where the concept of Spitting Image was born. The adult puppet satire would proceed to last 11 years before taking a break until 2020 where it was revived, renewed, and the winner of our Best Animated Sketch series of the year.
Martin Lambie-Nairn has passed away at the age of 75 this past X-mas day. The recipient of an Honorary Doctorate of the Arts from the University of Lincoln is survived by his wife Cordelia of whom he married in 1970.
Spitting Image is a British satirical television puppet show, the series features puppet caricatures of contemporary celebrities and public figures, including British Prime Ministers Margaret Thatcher and John Major and other politicians, US president Ronald Reagan, and the British Royal Family; the series was the first to caricature Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother (as an elderly gin-drinker with a Beryl Reid voice).
