Season Review: Lazor Wulf Season Two (First Four Episodes)
There used to be a time where pretty much all of the Adult Swim programming was geared more towards a stoner audience, but nowadays the network really doesn’t have a direction, especially when it comes to adult animation where it seems to have a little bit of everything for everybody. For my money, Lazor Wulf , 12 oz Mouse, The Jellies, Yolo, and Squidbillies all fall under the classic auspices of classic Adult Swim-lore.
Originally produced as a Tumblr comic, creator and director Henry Bonsu’s Lazor Wulf embarks on a second season with a different animation production house in the form of Six Point Harness who might even be a better match for the show given the studio’s history with content like Dick Figures, Apollo Gauntlet, and Tender Touches. For those that don’t know, Lazor Wulf is all about a wolf (Vince Staples) that has a laser on his back who takes on adventures with his pals that include a stupid horse (JD Witherspoon), his siblings Blazor(Quinta Brunson) and Canon Wulf (Big E ), and occasionally “God”(Reginald VelJohnson) shows up, for whatever reason. Set in the war ravaged town of Strongburg, Lazor usually absconds work in favor of trying to save the local fast food joint or taking part in Civil War reenactments as his alter ego “Musket Wulf”. Typically we get battles against some sort of authority figure (like his dad Demon Wulf)or any other somewhat atypical of the type of authoritative figures your blue collar type series might take on that isn’t all too different than what we’ve seen in the past.
That said, the visuals and erratic focus of the series becomes a visual feast all on it’s own. The luscious pastels, shadowing techniques, and adorable as fuck characters do enough for me to help keep me satiated but not distracting so that they don’t pull me away from plots that might be loose but require a bit of attention to grasp whatever the hell is going on. Take all of this, and we get a solid show that doesn’t try to do too much and makes for a good time, just like the old days.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
