English Dub Review: Tonikawa Over The Moon For You “Promise”

Overview

As Tsukasa waits for Nasa to return home, a young girl named Chitose, who claims to be her sister confronts her. Chitose asks for Tsukasa to come home with her, and after being ignored, she later encounters Nasa. As Nasa being the nice guy he is, tries to cheer Chitose up, it isn’t until she learns that Nasa is the one who married Tsukasa that Chitose’s attitude suddenly changes, and things take a rather unexpected direction…

Our Take

Chitose knows how to make quite an impression. That reaction with Tsukasa telling her about marriage was comedically priceless. Given her personality, I’m not surprised by her outburst at Nasa or that she’s trying to find evidence of something scandalous about him as it feels like the closest thing to conflict without having to drag things out like most Anime romances often do. Her maids Aurora and Charlotte though sure were nice contrasts to each other but were also kinda scary.

The start of this particular episode was nice as we finally got to see some of Tsukasa’s thoughts. The second part was an ok mix of comedy and showing parts of Tsukasa’s past. Even if we don’t completely know her as a person yet, we did at least properly learn a bit of Chitose’s connection to Tsukasa along with the two maids who accompany her. I’m pretty curious about a particular object that was in Chitose’s house and why Tsukasa needed it. The proposal scene at the church though sure was sweet and featured the perfect location for it as well. And while most of the proceedings felt a bit wacky in places with the Maids, the ending was so good that I wasn’t left completely annoyed or angry at the proceedings.

Hopefully, we’ll learn more about the object Tsukasa wants and its significance to Nasa behind their newly established marriage.
