Disney Star To Offer Up Loads Of Adult Animation For International Audiences

Because Hulu doesn’t have any international presence, Netflix and Amazon were able to pretty much dominate international streaming markets which made for excellent avenues in cultivating catalogs of localized content. For Netflix, this has been proven fruitful with the increase in anime series orders leading to doubling in viewership in Japan for the streaming service, but Disney wants to get some, too. With Disney+ already doing well internationally, the brand is getting ready to launch a new streaming service called Disney Star.

For adult animation fans, this is where international audiences will be able to get series like King of the Hill, Family Guy, American Dad, Solar Opposites, Archer, Futurama, The Cleveland Show, and Bob’s Burgers. Disney+ will be the home for The Simpsons, something that we saw go into effect earlier this year when linear rights for the longest running animated sitcom in primetime began to drop off longtime network mainstays in UK, Australia, and more. Note, animated series that aren’t at least partially owned by Disney-affiliated studios will not show up on the streamer.

Disney Star will be made available in countries like Canada, New Zealand, and Europe starting February 23rd.
