Our Take
From visual references to in-jokes tied with the DC Universe to even subtle movie references that rewards upon repeat viewings, these four episodes weren’t perfect but quite fun to watch in different ways. “Bucket List” explained the concept of fulfilling experiences before you die with a visual joke that can be spotted regarding the titular movie. “TV Knight 6” mostly worked as an anthology of random TV parodies with the framing device of Batman and Commissioner Gordon behaving like mischievous man-children which on a simplistic level as they have zero dialogue in-between the commercial segments. “Kryptonite” explored the weaknesses of each character no matter how bizarre or comedic they seem, and finally the most out of nowhere episode “Thumb War” took things to absurdist directions.
As a whole, this wave of episodes remained entertaining and fun in different ways but wasn’t perfect, as many of them moved within a brisk pace and some jokes fell flat at times. A few even came across as cringe-worthy especially the Batman Segments. I know this is meant to be a parody, but there are clever and funnier ways to make Batman funny as exemplified in the Lego Batman movie. But here that sadly wasn’t the case…
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
