Review: Craig of the Creek “Trick or Creek”
Overview(Spoilers Below)
It’s Halloween at the Creek, and Craig is on a mission to collect as much candy as humanly possible due to every child who’s made an unfulfilled transaction in the past with Kit’s “Trading Tree” is now obligated to give up their candy and pay off whatever past debts they owe her. If that’s not enough, a spooky ghoul from the Creek’s past threatens his and every other kid’s candy haul…
Our Take
Two things will always remain constant in kids cartoons: 1)They’ll always have a Christmas/holiday special of some sort, and 2) of course the obligatory Halloween special. Craig of the Creek is no exception to the latter. Craig even has to make the tough decision to recruit his little sister Jessica to help pay off their trading tree debt due to how “adorable” she supposedly is.
We also get a fun opening scene involving the token teenage goth/witch couple Tabitha and Courtney who talk about a haunting story that comes across as their weird-ass modernized version of the headless horseman named “No-Neck Natthew” who supposedly haunts the Creek that Craig and his friends usually congregate, while Craig’s dad Duane (Terry Crews) is facing his own problems involving a very specific trick-or-treater.
Aside from the three subplots, the entire episode was actually quite funny and chock-full of unexpected but not-so-subtle parodies & references of the ’90s. From Sonic the Hedgehog to even Craig’s parents dressing up like Steve Urkel and Missy Elliot.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
