English Dub Review: Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out “I Want to Hang Out at a Cat Café and a Pub!”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
Sakurai invites Uzaki to visit a cat cafe with a misleading request that has her feeling disappointed until she teaches him to pet cats. Sakurai is in paradise with how friendly the cats are and one of them even sits on his legs. Sakurai asks if she wants anything as a thank you for tagging along, and Uzaki does mention that her twentieth birthday is coming up and wants something special. However, the cat leads to him getting pins and needles which Uzaki takes the chance to poke at his feet until they get kicked out. After that Sakurai goes to the cafe to try and come up with an idea for her birthday but the scenarios he comes up with make him unsure of his choices.
When Uzaki’s birthday arrives, Uzaki asks for him the same way he asked her for the cat cafe only this time she wants to celebrate at a pub. At the pub, Uzaki drinks a lot even at Sakurai’s insistence to take it slow, and after that, she becomes a playful drunk and with no money to send her back, home Sakurai has no choice but to let her stay at his place. However, Uzaki continues to drink and stays up more while Sakurai struggles to sleep. Drunk Uzaki tries to steal a kiss but Sakurai stops her. The next morning Uzaki is extremely hungover but is thankful to Sakurai for celebrating her birthday with her.
Our Take:
The series is good at keeping anyone who watches entertained with Sakurai and Uzaki’s antics. There’s even a change of pace with Sakurai being the one to call Uzaki out. When he misled with his request Uzaki is disappointed with the revelation that it’s just because he didn’t want to go into a cat cafe alone. It shows that at least she’s thinking about him in a romantic sense and it’s a good step forward in the process of them becoming something more than friends. Personally I’m all here for it especially when they get to experience things like the cat cafe and the pub which makes it more of an adult romance series given how they bicker and what onlookers actually see between them.
Similarly, when Uzaki did the exact same thing to Sakurai with her words on her birthday. That moment was funny and also shows that he’s starting to think about her in that way too. The pub was a good scene with Sakurai teaching Uzaki on drinking and Uzaki just emptying out his wallet with the food and drinks she ordered. Then when they get back to his place, she drunkenly decides to kiss him but he resists and they both end up falling asleep. It was an expected scene seeing as they’re not there in their relationship at the moment. The hangover scene was nice to end Uzaki’s adventure with alcohol and her birthday celebration.
Overall it was a good episode on their relationship development in addition to a few mature moments.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
