English Dub Review: Black Clover “The One Who Has My Heart, My Mind, and Soul”
Overview (Spoilers Below)
Asta takes Finral to a mixer with Rebecca Scarlett and her friends Karen and Eliza, and in a series of self-contained character moments we see certain characters make asses of themselves for the sake of romance in different ways, but despite the self-sabotaging embarrassment of the ladies and idiocy of the men. Yami hopes everyone trains hard together for the next six months.
Our Take
This is possibly one of the worst filler episodes I’ve ever seen. I guess I was expecting much more Asta, Nero, and Noelle but it was all about Charlotte and Yami which in comparison isn’t as interesting or fun to watch. Nothing really happens outside of the unobtainable love between characters you obviously either see the chemistry between or all the male characters who are embarrassingly too fucking dense to see romance when it’s right in front of them. Shonen Anime is often guilty of this particular trope in most stories, but not to this monumental degree of bullshit.
While this attempts to make us give a shit about Black Clover‘s diverse cast of characters through their interactions with each other especially before we get to the next huge saga which I hope is soon because this slow-burn is testing my patience. I think the only funny moment involved Charlotte jumping out of a window all because Yami touched her fucking hand. If that’s all it takes to leave her star-struck and embarrassed, Imagine what would happen if they kissed. And don’t even get me started on Noelle and her wishy-washy attitude towards Asta.
You know it’s bad when a long hiatus would’ve been better than this…
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
