Review: Spongebob Squarepants: Boss for a Day/Pineapple RV”

“Boss for a Day”

Mr. Krabs has an accident and leaves SpongeBob in charge of the Krusty Krab despite having zero boss experience whatsoever and has to figure out solutions in terms of appeasing the customer which is a lot harder than it sounds…


“Pineapple RV”

Due to a Comedy of errors where Squidward’s mobile home is destroyed, SpongeBob and Patrick turn the pineapple house into a mobile home to take Squidward on the road trip/vacation he deserves to see a rare special flower called the “Water Lilly” within “Purpoise Peak”.


Our Take

“Boss for a Day” reveals something apparently Spongebob can do which even surprised me that for a short period of time gave momentary reprieve while Mr. Krabs is healing from an accident that results in him in a body cast for the duration of the episode. Spongebob may try to use Mr. Krab’s methods of management, but it doesn’t mean Krabs as was ever a role model in the workforce which has been exemplified multiple times.

As for “Pineapple RV”, it was quite a fun episode despite many of the contrived jokes heavily relying on Spongebob & Patrick’s well-intentioned attempts to befriend Squidward that often result in making Squidward the unintentional punchline to a cruel joke. The ending at least gave me a chuckle as it felt poetic & funny despite what later happens in the proceedings.

Overall these were both decent and entertaining in different ways, and after learning more about Spongebob’s strange new ability, I could see it potentially working as a plot-point in future episodes assuming the writing remains consistent, but who knows given the wacky nature of the show itself.
