Comic-Con@Home: Archer Season 11
PANEL ZONE!
Archer begins a new journey for both the characters and staff as Archer the character finally wakes up from his coma while the Archer show continues with its creator, Adam Reed, in a reduced role. Reed wasn’t present for today’s panel, nor is H. Jon Benjamin (who was on the Bob’s Burgers panel), though most of the cast, including Aisha Tyler (Lana), Judy Greer (Cheryl), Chris Parnell (Cyrill), Amber Nash (Pam), Lucky Yates (Krieger), and Executive Producer Casey Willis WERE! The only way they all see each other is at these conventions but this virtual one will have to do for now (although Lucky admits that he only drinks when he hangs with them). They discuss most surprising cosplays they’ve seen, with Willis saying his pick would be an Outlaw Country Cheryl. Lucky remembers someone who would go to every picture and pretend to have been shot, which he finds hilarious.
Willis mentions that the last two Season 11 episodes were recorded under quarantine. For Parnell, this wasn’t a big deal considering their work is mainly about recording alone anyway, though with more safety protocols than usual and less touching. Greer was surprised that they were still allowed to go in the studio since she was prepared to record from home, though at least she was always close to toilet paper. For everyone else, it seems like working from home has had the same weird effects on telling time and finding things to do as most people. Parnell’s son has been taking a lot of classes and activities.
The cast is glad to be back to the original versions of their characters instead of alternate takes of them, though those times were fun. Nash in particular says it was good to get back to the real world and the scripts reflected that. But after that it’s hard for everyone to focus on the questions in front of them and things start devolving fast. They do talk about how coming in to review an animatic recently was fun because they got to see each other. Also, recurring guest stars for Season 11 will be Simon Pegg and Jamie Lee Curtis, the latter apparently brought on thanks to Greer meeting Curtis on the set of Halloween 2018 and Curtis watches Archer with her son.
Archer returns for Season 11 in September on FXX. Watch this panel here.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
