Animated Adaptation Of “Echo Boy” On The Way From The Same Producers As “Undone”
Submarine Animation is currently in production for the second season of Undone with a couple of episodes in early filming stages even despite COVID-19 which is great news for fans of the excellent Amazon series. But, that’s not all.
Deadline is reporting that Submarine Animation has picked up the rights to adapt the sci-fi novel Echo Boy written by Matt Haig. The adaptation will be a rotoscope animated drama revolving around a murder mystery set in the future in a world of robots. It takes place in the year 2115, when the life of teenager Audrey Castle is shattered after her parents are murdered by a malfunctioning Echo — humanoid robots designed to assist with every aspect of daily life. However, when Audrey crosses paths with a thinking, feeling Echo prototype named Daniel, she is forced to grapple with her prejudices, fears, and the idea of what it means to be human.
Submarine is co-developing the dramatic property with Tommy Pallotta and will soon start fielding for writers.
Our Take
The largest animation studio in the Netherlands is mostly known for pre-school content, but is starting to make waves over here. Undone was completely snubbed by the recent Emmy nominees which, in it of itself, is a larger issue at hand that needs fixin’.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
