Streaming News: Star Trek: Lower Decks ; BoJack Horseman ; Central Park

Entertainment Weekly got a bunch of exclusive screenshots for the upcoming new CBS All Access series, Star Trek: Lower Decks. This as part of a quick interview with producer Mike McMahan who is also running the show that he says is aiming for a “PG-13” audience rather than the older skewing audiences that might enjoy Rick and Morty or Solar Opposites. Furthermore, Mike teases Star Trek: Next Generation cameos.

Everyone’s starting to make their rounds for Emmy consideration, and Will Arnett should be busy having been part of quite a few shows the last year or so. Chief among them, the final episodes of BoJack Horseman that had wrapped back in January that everyone is still talking about. With Tuca & Bertie being revived by Adult Swim, make sure you keep your eyes on this one has being eyed by a few of Netflix’s competitors. In any case, if this is the end, Will seems somewhat content in a new interview with Gold Derby:

“There are not perfect endings in life,” he says, noting that ”BoJack” refused to tie up every loose end in a neat bow. “Nobody rides off into the sunset. That’s an idea that was created.”

Apple TV+ appears to have it’s first adult animated series hit in the form of Central Park, but is the show big enough to warrant a Broadway spin-off? Well, given that NYC is still on pandemic shutdown, I doubt anytime soon, but co-creator Josh Gad seems to think that where there’s smoke there’s fire and maybe that’s a thing that happens? Here’s what he had to say to Grammy:

Oh, that hasn’t even been broached. People have already started asking that question like yourself, which gives me such joy that people would even consider it to be worthy enough for the stage. I think right now, we’re just trying to do our day job and we’re in the midst of season two, and we’re in the midst of literally creating an entire animated series from our respective homes. That’s been the real challenge right now: How do we, in this ever-changing world, keep the wheels turning?
