Everything We Know About Red vs Blue:Zero’s Characters

As we continue waiting for the ever approaching release date of the latest season of Red vs Blue, eager fans such as us have been chomping at the bit to get even a scrap of new info regarding what this newest iteration of the battle between primary colored combatants could even be about. Well, it seems that in the past week, new info emerged from one of Rooster Teeth’s podcast which blessed us with quite a bit of enlightening details. Thanks to Reddit user “maverickmak” for compiling news from the June 18th podcast.

While the plot continues to be a mystery, we have been able to get more information about the characters involved. Some of those include:

Agent One:
Of the main cast, we currently know the most about this character voiced by Fiona Nova, as detailed in this twitter video by Torrian Crawford. She is apparently “next in line” to lead a new spec-op group called “Shatter Squad”. Meaning she is CLOSE to leading but isn’t, at least not when the story starts. Our speculation brains would probably put together that her potential as leader is either going to be an arc over the course of the season…OR completely wiped out early on.

Agent East:
Donning lightish red armor (because I guess any incarnation of RVB needs one of those) East is described as the “Sasuke to (One’s) Naruto”, implying an intense rivalry between them that will likely play out across the season. She is voiced by Jenn Tidwell.

Zero:
Lastly, we have Zero, the titular antagonist of the season, voiced by Christian Young. Wearing the red to balance One’s blue, he looks to be a power hungry with a team of his own, who will likely pair off against One and East as the main conflict of the season.

Other news:
This season will be partially animated in the Unreal Engine, which is probably a first for this series, though the trademark machinima it’s known for will also be implemented. Along with the Naruto allusions, it seems the themes of family from the Fast & Furious films is also an influence on Zero’s story. Crawford looks to be showing major reverence to the previous seasons, but is making a new story set in the same universe and adhering the established continuity.

And that’s all we know…again. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too much longer to find out what any or all of this means once the season finally drops. And frankly, based on what we’ve learned so far about it, this season may just be the shot in the arm to help Red vs Blue continue into the beginning of its third decade. There’s really only so many times we can play around with the same Simulation Troopers, especially with members of that cast having permanently left the company by this point. When before it seemed to be on its last legs, Red vs Blue: Zero might be the start of something really great for this long running series. Until then, stay tuned for future updates.
