Disney+: Announcements Made Regarding “The Simpsons”
Disney+ has dropped some important notes regarding The Simpsons today.
Disney+ will make the first 19 seasons (and some episodes from Season 20) of ‘The Simpsons’ available in their original 4:3 aspect ratio starting May 28th. This after one of the earliest outcries about 30 seasons of The Simpsons being made available on the streaming service, but a good chunk of them not in the intended aspect ratio, thereby ruining a bunch of the background gags that throwback episodes used to feature AND episodes looking completely stretched out in all of it’s ugliness.
Fortunately, this is all coming to an end starting next week. Another note, Maggie Simpson in The Longest Daycare will be streaming May 29th. Disney+ has released a poster accompanying the news.
In the film, Maggie Simpson is enrolled at a new daycare facility where she squares off with the foul-tempered Baby Gerald when she befriends a caterpillar.
Update 5/31: Here’s how they produced the 4:3 aspect ratio.
Synopsis:
The longest-running primetime scripted show in television history, THE SIMPSONS exploded into popular culture in 1990 and has remained one of the most groundbreaking and innovative entertainment franchises, recognizable throughout the world. HOMER (Dan Castellaneta), MARGE (Julie Kavner), BART (Nancy Cartwright), LISA (Yeardley Smith) and MAGGIE are instantly identifiable television icons. Rounding out this cast of characters are many beloved Springfield residents, including tavern proprietor MOE SZYSLAK (Hank Azaria) and nuclear power plant owner MR. BURNS (Harry Shearer). The Emmy Award-, Annie Award- and Peabody Award-winning animated comedy will begin its 31st season this year.
THE SIMPSONS is a Gracie Films Production in association with 20th Century Fox Television. James L. Brooks, Matt Groening and Al Jean are the executive producers. The Gracie Films Worldwide Brand Division develops and produces the licensed content for the series.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
