Trailer Breakdown: “Rick And Morty” Season Four Part Two

The fourth season of Rick and Morty has been strong thus far, but is there an Emmy contender yet on the level of “Pickle Rick”? “The Old Man and the Seat” and “One Crew over the Crewcoo’s Morty” could both make cases. That said, after seeing the trailer for the second half of the fourth season of Rick and Morty, we might be in for an even wilder ride.

My personal favorite episodes of Rick and Morty are the ones that are more violent, more frenetic in pace, and it does appear that’s where we are going in this second half of the season. Way more fight scenes, with some featuring characters we haven’t seen in a while, are all over the trailer. Interestingly enough, the show’s fourth season has been re-missed of the more serialized story lines ala season three’s divorce arc in favor of more episodic adventures. Is one better than the other? For TV, it may not matter. For streaming? It may.

Rick and Morty episodic titles have always been long paradoxical, but this go-round we’re seeing more parodies happening on the show which could come to a head if the trailer means anything. Star Wars, Aliens, Gundam, and more all seem to be on tap.

I hate this split season shit. South Park used to do this and I hope it’s not something we have to deal with in the future. I’m totally fine waiting for all episodes of a given season of Rick and Morty being completed and think more consideration should be taken to fix that. Furthermore, with papa streaming service HBO MAX on the way, it’s tough keeping subscribers on when you have a new two hours of content versus five plus hours.
