Patton Oswalt On The Future Of “Happy!”:-‘We Gotta Do A Movie’

By far, Happy! is one of the best adaptations of an independent comic book series ever and it’s unfortunate Syfy had decided to cancel the series after two seasons. The series routinely made our top ten series of the year and with good reason. Chris Meloni as “Nick Sax” and Patton Oswalt as “Happy” made for a symphonic buddy comedy in what also become the best live-action/adult animation hybrid to ever hit linear television and even a smash-hit for Netflix who was a contender to pick up the series for additional seasons.

Well, count Oswalt as a cheerleader for some sort of return of Happy with the comedian (who also has a new special coming to Netflix called I Love Everything on May 19th) posting this on Twitter:

Patton Oswalt knows a thing or two about quality programming. The Grammy-winning comedian is currently starring in AP Bio which is set to return on NBC’s Peacock streaming service, a fan-led movement for continuation of the series, and he’s producing the M.O.D.O.K. animated series for Hulu which is slated to premiere next year. I, for one, would also like to see a revival of Happy!.

Synopsis:

Disgraced police detective Nick Sax (Christopher Meloni) lives as a social outcast, filling his days with heavy drinking and substance abuse, moonlighting as a hitman to feed his various habits. After sustaining a massive heart attack, Nick comes into contact with a small, blue, winged unicorn named Happy (an animated character voiced by Patton Oswalt) that apparently only he can see. Happy explains he is the imaginary friend of a little girl named Hailey, who has been kidnapped by a deranged man dressed as Santa Claus (“Very Bad Santa”). Happy reveals that Hailey is Nick’s estranged daughter, and sought Nick’s aid believing him to be the hero cop that Hailey envisioned him to be. Though skeptical at first, Nick reluctantly agrees and the two work to save Hailey.
