CBS TV Studios Plans To Keep Hold Of Strong Animation Bounce Back With Re-Up Of Key Producer

If you would have told me three years ago that CBS would be touting multiple adult animated series either in development or airing, streaming or otherwise, I would’ve thought you were nuts. Alas, former 20th Century FOX producer Kate Krentz has done the impossible and brought a strong animation pipeline back to CBS for the first time in decades, so it’s no wonder that CBS Studios is not only re-upping her deal with the company, but it also sees that Krentz’s 219 Productions is bringing on Joe Barrasas as Director of Development.

Over the last few years, Our Cartoon President has turned into a perennial mainstay for CBS’s sister network Showtime, the success of which has lead to an almost spin-off with Tooning Out The News which is streaming daily with new episodes on CBS All-Access. Furthermore, we have on tap, Star Trek: Lower Decks and Brad Neely’s The Harper House, both of which have been ordered to series and are in production. It’s good to see CBS get serious about the animation industry, and here’s hoping Katie’s re-up means more is on the way.
