Six Animated Films to Watch While Quarantined
Loving Vincent (UK/Poland)
In 2018, Julian Schnabel managed to turn the remarkable real-life story of Vincent van Gogh into just another lackluster biopic, one that tried to mask its own lack of inspiration behind cameos of the legendary Dutch painter’s finest work. What’s worse, at the time, actor Willem Dafoe’s portrayal was widely regarded as the definitive motion picture adaptation of the life of this most quintessential of misunderstood geniuses, yet that was—and still is—a gross mistake considering Loving Vincent had come out just a year earlier. Doing justice to their source material as well as their audience, directors Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman chose to tell the aftermath of Van Gogh’s death entirely through paintings. Paintings—mind you—as each of the film’s sixty-five thousand frames (so IMDB trivia informs me) constitutes an oil painting done on canvas, imitating Van Gogh’s recognizable style, by a team of up to one hundred artists. Many who have laid eyes upon works like Starry Night swear they could almost see the brush strokes moving before them. That’s part of Van Gogh’s magic, and Loving Vincent carried over that magic and multiplies it hundredfold.

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
