Politicians Continue To Use “The Simpsons” When Trading Barbs
The pure irony in the GOP using The Simpsons in any squabbles they are a part of a political party that wanted nothing to do with the series when it began it’s ascendance into pop culture lore in the early nineties.
On January 27, 1992, then-President George H. W. Bush said, “We are going to keep on trying to strengthen the American family, to make American families a lot more like the Waltons and a lot less like the Simpsons.” Obviously, the producers of The Simpsons did not sit quietly and would eventually hit back in an episode entitled “Two Bad Neighbors” where George and Homer would become neighbors that would soon become a rivalry.
So, when the likes of Ted Cruz or now Mike Pompeo utilize The Simpsons in memes to take down their political rivals, the irony for me is off the charts. In this instance, Mike had posted this meme of Lisa crying at a crumpled up legal legislation as a mirror to Nancy Pelosi doing similar following the State of the Union address

This didn’t sit well with the current and former producers and voices of The Simpsons including Yeardley Smith, the longtime voice of Lisa of whom is depicted in the meme.
That’s pretty good! I might just add f*ck you @mikepompeo for co-opting my character to troll @SpeakerPelosi . Be a leader and fight you own fight! Oh, wait I forgot, you’re a follower. https://t.co/EzCtEZmKzJ

Sill though, that didn’t stop more memes inspired by The Simpsons that are being used at the jest of Democrats. In this instance, The Daily Wire posted a “Homer into Bush” meme directed at Presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren that you can see below:

The Simpsons return with brand-new episodes on February 16th @ 8 pm ET/PT, let’s see if any more politically-charged memes are sprung before the end of the season. In the meantime, I’ll be over here looking at the more under-the-radar furor going on about two Moe’s showing up on “White Christmas Blues”.

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
