The Video Games Most In Need Of Getting An Animated Series Adaptation
Comix Zone
In a perfect world, Comix Zone for the Sega Genesis would have been a massive bestseller and set forth a number of sequels that would keep the ambitious title in the public consciousness. Alas, Comix Zone has amounted to a one-off cult classic, but its strong reputation has lingered and there’d likely be a surprisingly devout built-in audience for an adaptation of this game. The video game is a beat-‘em-up action title that looks at Sketch Turner, who gets trapped inside of a comic book. There’s a very unique visual look to the game that resembles a comic book as closely as possible, right down to speech bubbles and pages turning between panels. More than anything, Comix Zone is a loving tribute to comic books and it’d be just as interesting to see this style replicated on a television show as it was to do it in a video game. There’s a very clear set mission in place as Sketch progresses through the comic and tries to return to the real world that lends itself well to both procedural and serialized elements.
Plenty of talent could handle this project, but Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer of The Venture Bros. could be an especially strong fit. They’re people who definitely understand and appreciates the structure of comic books and he could help turn Sketch Turner into a memorable protagonist. They also have the same wry sense of humor that was present in the game, but they could take it even further.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
