The Video Games Most In Need Of Getting An Animated Series Adaptation

Ninja Gaiden

There are plenty of Samurai and ninja video games to have come along over the years, but Ninja Gaiden seems to have retained the most staying power with the series entering the more modern generations of gaming. Ninja Gaiden is more so known for its punishingly hard difficulty than its character work or story arcs, but in a flashy action title sometimes that’s more than enough. It may seem a little on the nose, but Genndy Tartakovsky of Samurai Jack would absolutely kill it with a Ninja Gaiden adaptation. He’d have no trouble bringing a level of artistry to the fight sequences and finding ways to creatively depict the different environments in the games through ambitious ideas. Tartakovsky’s work with Samurai Jack is the most analogous with the Ninja Gaiden series, but his work on Sym-Bionic Titan and Primal also highlight the director’s larger skill set and how he wouldn’t struggle with some of the crazier elements from Ninja Gaiden’s games. Even some of the more outrageous, yet iconic, sequences from the Ninja Gaiden series, like the boss fight against the helicopter, feel right up Tartakovsky’s alley. He excels at mixing the old with the new and Ninja Gaiden delights in that level of anachronistic storytelling.
