Netflix Casually Announces Anime Film Adaptation For “The Witcher”
Netflix has finally found it’s answer to HBO’s Game of Thrones in the form of The Witcher which the streaming service notes is it’s most popular show right now, so why not take advantage? On the other end of the spectrum, the service has been cataloging anime like it’s nobody’s business having recently made an international deal (sans US/Canada because HBO MAX has that) for the entire Studio Ghibli library of animated features which includes Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Arrietty, Kiki’s Delivery Service, My Neighbor Totoro, and The Tale of The Princess Kaguya, and in February we’re getting some new anime drops.
So, take those two ideas and smash them together. What do you get? A brand-new animated feature-length(81 minutes) film called The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf. No word yet on official casting, but we do know who is producing the film which you can read about in the film’s synopsis below.
Synopsis: The world of The Witcher expands in this anime film that explores a powerful new threat facing The Continent. The project is from The Witcher series producers Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and Beau DeMayo, along with the Korean animation studio Studio Mir animation studio whose credits include Netflix’s Voltron: Legendary Defender.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
