Review: Momma Named Me Sheriff “Ganley Stoodman” ; “Bald Boyz”
Overview (Spoilers Below)
“Ganley Stoodman”
Stanley’s legs are cut off after an unfortunate accident with a saw but the doctors lose his legs before they are able to be reattached. Because of his legs being missing, Stanley is mistaken for being a third-grader in elementary school named “Ganley” and quickly befriends Tommy who has no clue that his dad is now his school peer. We come to find out that the one responsible for taking Stanley’s legs is not only the boss at his previous employer but is now running a school workshop that doubles as cheap labor for the call center retailer.
After Tommy beats the unholy shit out of “Ganley” for trying to take his lady, we come to learn that Sheriff has his legs and the people behind this are getting arrested. Ganley doesn’t get his legs back because the doctors in Old Town are a bunch of fucking morons, but Tommy DOES get the girl.
“Bald Boyz”
Carl’s all depressed about being bald and Sheriff is gonna do what he has to so that he can help his pal regain his confidence. This comes in the form of tracking down some sort of ointment that’s supposed to help. The solution? Mustard mixed with milk. Meanwhile, Tommy throws himself in jail for allegedly killing an astronaut that isn’t actually dead. With the help of Carl’s new hair, we are able to both retrieve and revive the astronaut thereby clearing Tommy of all charges.
Our Take
In the most recent episode of Momma Named Me Sheriff, we get our closest look yet at a potential return of the Mr. Pickles franchise with a glance at our favorite family and their growing puppy. Until then, we get two instances of Sheriff taking part in investigations that have to do with his pals missing either hair or legs, which is fun, but I found myself more attracted to Tommy’s bit with the astronaut. In fact, Tommy’s presence this week is the most profound since the show’s changeover and there’s definitely a sense of “I miss him so much” whenever he gets on screen and I hope we get to see more of him. His purity, his personality, it’s so unlike any other characters on television which is why it made such a fantastic contrast to the brutality that was Mr. Pickles. Being back near school brought some of those flashes back, especially with all of the dismembered body parts strewn around.
I’m still lukewarm on Momma Named Me Sheriff. Mr. Pickles was just so far ahead of it’s time whereas this show is just taking Homer Simpson to an nth degree. Hopefully with a couple of more episodes left, Hothouse can help us out here.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
