English Dub Review: Ensemble Stars “Decision”

Overview (Spoilers Below)

Undead and fine face off in a dance/sing-off bro, and fine wins though the win is taking a health toll on Eichi as he barely makes it through to the next round to face Trickstar. In a stunning reversal, Hokuto rejoins Trickstar and the dual goes off to the death which sees fine as the victor. However, due to an odd bylaw, the vote is so close that a rematch is ordered only for Eichi not able to partake due to his failing health. Trickstar becomes the winners of the competition and we get a send-off with the entire academy.

Our Take

Hey, it’s one of those Disney endings for the first cour of Ensemble Stars to wrap on. The send-off makes everyone feel warm and fuzzy, but still leaves questions about various characters we didn’t get to see as part of that encore. The bylaw win is an odd one, almost as odd as say Dodgeball, but not nearly as funny and even more hidden. Next week we get a recap episode followed by the premiere of the next cour of Ensemble Stars, Undead is still around and feisty, so we’ll see how they handle this loss.
