2. Nino

Yeah, Nino’s at the bottom for me. As much as I can get behind a tsundere character, even when they get annoying, bratty girls are where I draw the line. Not that I’m ruling out her becoming a better character down the line, but she probably receives close to the least amount of character development in the season, basically just slowly coming around on Futaro for sticking his neck out when he doesn’t need to but never quite making up for her drastic actions early on (like drugging the guy and forcing him out the door). This could very well be the intention for this part of the story, but in regards to Season 1, Nino’s at the bottom of the totem pole.

…and that goes double for her chances of becoming the bride. Now, obviously there are many love stories in the past few decades that have started with the main couple hating each other at the start before slowly coming to accept and love the other, but I don’t see that in Nino’s future. Part of that is because she has sisters who are a lot easier to get along with, meaning that overdoing the meanness and pushiness is only going to drive her love interest away if she isn’t careful. Though it might be a bit late for that, given how much she pushed Futaro away early on. On top of that, something tells me that whatever initiative she’ll be taking will probably only serve the story purpose of pushing the others to action, meaning that she’ll be more of a catalyst than a competitor. Her race might have been over before it started.
